Absolutely essential and unique reference work for any of gold coins collector, researcher or coin dealer. The current, 9th edition of Gold Coins of the World, by Arthur and Ira Friedberg, based on the original work by the late Robert Friedberg (1912-1963), published in 1958.

The authors of this book are a well-known worldwide professional numismatists. Their firm, The Coin & Currency Institute, Inc. is a founding member of the elite International Association of Professional Numismatists. In June 2001 Arthur Friedberg was elected President of the Association, the first American to hold the office. In the subsequent years he was awarded several distinctions, e.g. the title of Honorary President of the IAPN, the Prix d Honneur of the IAPN for Gold Coins of the World (The Best Book of 1992), the Medal of Merit of the American Numismatic Association (ANA), the 1st place Heath Literary Award (The Best Article Award, for his article in The Numismatist in 1993), the Swiss Vrenelli Prize (for outstanding contributions to numismatics), and the American Numismatic ANA’s Presidential Award. Today he is a well-known professional numismatist and expert in world gold coins and U.S. paper money. He is also e.g. a life member of the ANA, and a member of the Professional Numismatists Guild, the editor of Modern World Coins, and the author of a number of articles for The Numismatist.

Gold Ducats of The Netherlands, Vol. 1

The Gold Ducats of The Netherlands has been judged Best Specialized Book on World Coins of the Year by the Numismatic Literary Guild. The book was judged the best of all books dealing with world coins. Winners were announced during the NLG Bash on the night of Thursday, August 11, during the 2016 ANA World’s Fair of Money in Anaheim, California.

This book is based on a database of 20,000 records collected during five years of research. It includes all gold ducats minted by the Gelderland mint (1586-1803) and mints of Batenburg, Hedel, ‘s-Heerenberg, Stevensweert, Nijmegen, Gorinchem, Groninger Ommelanden, Gronsveld, Haarlem, Middelburg, Vianen, Thorn, Breda and Zierikzee.

Numizmatyk Krakowski

One of the oldest Polish numismatic periodicals, published continuously in the years 1958-1990; a total of 384 issues were published. Numizmatyk Krakowski contained a number of articles very important to Polish numismatics, often sought by collectors and numismatists.

In 2019, Numizmatyk Krakowski was reactivated and appears as a publication of the Polish Numismatic Society in Cracow.

The Poland 1621 Gold 100 Ducats / Studukatówka bydgoska 1621 Zygmunta III Wazy. The first comprehensive book on the Poland 1621 gold 100 ducats. A copy of this type was sold in January 2018 for $2.16 million (read more in CoinWeek ). The book describes a historical background of this coinage, all specimens known listed – described and pictured (if possible), analysis of all dies known as well as information on strikes in silver and re-strikes.

The second edition of the monograph of the largest Polish gold coin, which was published in 2018 and is almost out-of-print. The new edition of the book is issued on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the Polish 100 ducats and includes, among others, catalog of all known coins struck in gold and silver with 100 ducats dies. Print run of the book is only 100 numbered copies.

A foreword to the book is written by Mateusz Woźniak, the curator of the Numismatic Cabinet of the Emeryk Hutten-Czapski in Cracow.

The Coinage of Friesland

The Coinage of Friesland has been judged Best World Coin History Book, along with the awarded goldducats.com website, by Acquisition International in the Business Excellence Awards 2021. Winners were announced on June 18 in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, United Kingdom.

This is the first comprehensive book on the Friesland coinage, whose publication was preceded by several years of research, queries in museum and private collections and numerous library collections. A foreword is written by the outstanding, late numismatist from Friesland, an expert on Frisian coinage with 50 years of experience – Jille B. Westerhof.

The first 45 pages of the book describe the history and coinage of Friesland from its beginning until the closure of the mint in 1752, incl. historical background of individual mint buildings up to modern times. A lot of space is devoted to relatively unknown in the literature coinage in the period 1591-1594 in the temporary Friesland Mint in Reiderschans. In addition, full information about the mint staff – mintmasters, die sinkers, wardens and assayers – is also provided.

The coin catalog includes a total of 116 types of Friesland coins minted in 1580-1738, from gold to copper one. The book includes several dozen previously unpublished photos, printed in photographic quality. For each coin type all varieties known the author are listed.

The Early Dated Coins of Europe, 1234-1500, 2nd Ed.

Second edition of the catalog of medieval dated coins by Robert Levinson, being the primary literature on the topic. The first edition from 2007 was completely sold out.

The 2nd edition contains not only updated prices for all coins, but also the results of the author’s twelve years of work. It completed the catalog with more than 150 new types and subtypes and updated numerous rarity grades based on the current knowledge. Book is printed in Poland “with the best care of” by Knight Press, which was noted by the author in the book.
